FAQ
How to Join
Membership is FREE! It’s that easy. To join DenverJUG, all you need to do is to attend the meetings. We encourage members to subscribe to the DenverJUG Yahoo! Group to be on our mailing list. Our typical meeting has about 70-120 members and we have nearly ten times that on the mailing list.
There is also a DJUG discussion group for Java related topics at DJUG Discuss.
How to Get to the Meetings
Meetings are usually held at the Auraria Campus Tivoli building in downtown Denver. Maps and Parking. Please check the home page monthly for any location changes.
How the Meetings Are Organized
DenverJUG hosts one meeting a month, broken into two sessions. The first session starts at 6 p.m. and focuses on Basic Concepts. The second session starts at 7 p.m. and features a prominent Java professional presenting advanced concepts. Sponsored food and drink are available prior to the keynote speaker. Feel free to bring business cards to the meeting. In general, our evenings usually follow this agenda:
• Hands-on presentation of tools and code
• On-going question and answer
DenverJUG: 7-8:30 p.m. session
• Announcements: jobs/events/notices.
• Main speaker presentation
• Question and answer
• Door Prizes: donations from sponsors
How to Become a Speaker
Speakers are needed for both the main meeting and the basic concepts group. The presentations should be tailored to a technical audience, rather than a business audience, and should assume some fundamental knowledge of the subject. If you are interested, email denverjug at yahoo dot com.
How to Sponsor Our Meetings
DenverJUG is entirely volunteer and is funded via sponsorships. We provide our members with food and drink before our meetings, as well as raffle items. We need books, discounts on certifications, gift certificates, t-shirts, and more. Email denverjug at yahoo dot com.
How to Help DenverJUG
Get involved either as a member, a speaker, a mentor, a sponsor, or committee/board member. DenverJUG is not a formal rganization and is run entirely by volunteers. Our speakers do not receive payment. We rely on community participation.
